Dear Mila,
I want to take out this time and tell you how incredibly proud I am of you. You don't even know me but I've been a lurker of yours for 5+ years (more so in the past than now, since I'm a junior in college and hardly have much time to lurk anymore). I was there during your earlier posts when you liked to experiment with makeup (you used to obsess over MAC and getting a job with MAC of some kind) and take pretty pictures of yourself and now look at you. You've grown into a beautiful woman, networking in the industry, getting yourself known, a true entrepreneur. You are an amazing inspiration for those who have a passion and would like to capitalize on it. I absolutely love your work (do you even call it work? haha) and I visit occasionally to see what your creative mind is up to, not to mention you are also a trendsetter, and I admit to sometimes visiting to see your latest outfits to figure out recent trends since I'm not much of a fashion mag reader. You are on the road to success, no doubt about it. I'm no psychic, but I can only see a bright future for you. Good luck with everything (even though you don't need it :D) and keep doin' yo thang.

HAPPY NEW YEARS LIVEJOURNAL!
Glad to see this community is still e-live and well (ha ha)
I hereby claim this year to be the year of the killer midrif. It's really been one of my goals (physically - that and LONG legs, but a girl can only do so much. That's what 5" platforms are for.. heeee-ay!) I wouldn't call it my "New Year's Resolution" just something I thought of after watching Janet's amazing video! *smiles* UGH, honestly, how amazing is she? Anyway, my thing is (what my Momma Dearest always reminds me) "always try to be a better person everyday". I'm not waiting for a whole New Year, I've got the present! WE GOT NOW Kiddies! Hope I'm making sense. I haven't been sleeping well the past few nights because of my annoying and disgusting eczema itching attacks.. so I'm typing this as my eyeballs are burning from dryness but I do mean everything I'm saying with all my heart.
My goal for this year is the same as what I had already set them in September. Finish School. I've been delaying completing my Advanced Makeup Certificate for too long and now I'm proud to say I'm almost complete! It was a hard decision, not because I didn't want to enroll (are you kidding me? I LOVE ALL MY CLASSES!) but once I had committed, I knew I had to say "no" to a lot of things I wanted to say "yes" to. In the end, my decision will benefit me in the long run and opportunities will open up again. Not necessarily the same ones, but perhaps something better. I believe things happen for a reason, and I'm really feeling the effects of having to truly sacrifice right now it makes me borderline depressed. But I'm keeping focused and I'm 110% that it will all pay off in the end! Once I remind myself that, I don't feel so bad anymore. Aside from that, I've also been blessed with some unexpected pleasant surprises that it makes me want to puke (in a good way!).
I can't wait to see what 2009 has in store for me!
You should feel the same way too! (About yourself, of course!!!)

What a nice surprise to find in the mail today!
I missed it the day it came out since I was working all day on set...
but Linda (the writer that interviewed me) was nice enough to mail me some copies!

full page article on page 14 in the continuing education section...
The article pretty much talks about what I've been doing since I've enrolled in Yorkville School of Makeup (I'm there finally finishing my Advanced Makeup Certificate to learn stage and special fx) - whether in school or out of school (ie, assisting jobs through The Artist Group)
Once I find a link to this I'll post it up so you can read the whole story...

 This is old news, but.. I cannot get enough of Yves Saint Laurent's PUR BLACK lipgloss! I love it because it can be applied as a stain or layered to a heavenly solid ebony colour AND it has no sparkles. I'm really surprised how often I've been using this gloss on and off set. ONE WORD: UGH! In the most positive, disgustingly-good way ever. Did I mention how sweet the smell is too? Eat it. |

I've only worked with him twice, assisting Claudine - but I swear, those days were one of the best times I've ever had on set. It made me realize even more why I love my job and appreciate all the hard working people involved. Thank you for the memorable experience, Hamish!

Interesting note about my name "change" (which isn't, really -- read on)
My original name is Milanie (filipino pronounciation and spelling). It's both my Grandmother's names put together (Mila + Fanie) Because I was born in Canada, my mom westernized it and that's how Melanie came about. So, I'm just going back to my roots, na mean? Victoria is my middle name not my last name. Mila Victoria became official when my close friend, Claudzi Baltazeezy (my special name for her :) and I went back and forth on what made sense. I didn't want to use my lastname much either... stamped & approved. Mila Victoria to infinity & beyond, the realer than real version of myself & identity in my work
